My steering wheel was in rough shape, the PO must've used lots of lotions and hand oils, because even when I bought the car tons of oil was just caked on the wheel, giving it a shiny finish. I kept putting this off as i would either tell myself I'd swap an alcantra M-performance wheel or be getting another car shortly, but today I tackled it in no more than 5 minutes.
Unfortunately I didn't take any before pictures because I'm dumb, but the wheel was very shiny (didn't feel slick) and looked very faded, with a white-ish look to the whole wheel. I went at it with a MF towel that I soaked in hot water beforehand. With a little muscle it only took two or three goes to see a good difference. I was short on time so I plan on going back and giving it a few more goes, and adding a magic eraser into the mix as those really do wonders on dirty steering wheels. The wheel looks and feels better, but it still isn't 100%. I'm washing the car tomorrow so I'll put up some more pictures.

You need to swap your steering wheel for a sport one.

trust me I know haha, I had everything for an M3 steering wheel swap (including DCT paddles) but I sold them when I was about to buy a ZCP E90.

Awesome, nice work! I've got a thing of magic erasers sitting in my office desk waiting to be used on my steering wheel. The A4 really could use a nice cleaning, since the steering wheel is fairly slick and I love that brand new matte finish. It just feels so much newer and better in general.
If you commit to the magic erasers, make sure to let me know! I'd love to see how it turns out.

I'll be washing and claying the car tomorrow, I'll be sure to post some pictures and let you know how the Magic eraser works out. The steering wheel really looked rough, so I'm happy with how it is now but I know it could be better.
Also, do you know of any NoVa/DC fast & furious meets on Friday when the movie comes out? I think there's a subie meet at my local movie theater.
